Our Beliefs

PHILIPPIANS 2

In Philippians 1:27, the Apostle Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote to the believers in Philippi, charging them to “let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ.”

In a Christ-like spirit and conducting ourselves in a manner worthy of the Gospel, we want to serve you with grace, patience, hard work and diligence to make your home-buying experience one that you will never forget.

You may be saying to yourself, “OK, but ultimately what you really want is to sell me a new home and make a profit.” It is true that we are builders and we are in business to make a profit, but that is not our ultimate aim. Our aim is to bring glory to God in everything we say, do, and think.

We understand that it is by God’s grace that He has granted us the vocation, talents and skills to be home builders. It truly is a gift from God. No doubt, God supplies us all the necessary means by which we can grow our business and provide for our employees and our families through the sale and profit of the homes our customers purchase from us. It would be foolish to suggest otherwise. But chiefly, our desire is to be faithful stewards of this gift by honoring Him in using this vocation to serve those whom God sends our way.

Whatever sales we are awarded by our customers, we thank God for providing them to us and give Him the sole glory. Regardless of whether we build your home or not, we are pleased to serve you and thank our Lord Jesus for the opportunity to have met you. It is our hearts’ desire that your experience with us exemplifies Christ.

  1. "Going back again to the Apostle Paul, as he continues his letter to the believers in Philippi, he says in Philippians 2:1-11 (NAS),
  2. Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,
  3. make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose.
  4. Do nothing from selfish or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;
  5. do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus,
  6. who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
  7. but emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave, and being made in the likeness of men.
  8. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
  9. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
  10. and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

In verses 1-5 Paul describes the spiritual unity of the believers in Jesus and what that looks like – its motives and characteristics. The “servant heart” attitude comes from the Lord Jesus. He is the perfect model of this. In fact, the word in verse 7 that is used in the original Greek text is duolos, which means “slave” and is translated as “bond-servant” or “servant” in the Bible. Jesus is the Son of Man, willingly giving His perfect life in the place of sinners.

Read verses 6-8 again and see what He accomplished by His willing sacrifice for sinners and loving submission to God the Father. Look what Jesus gave up. Jesus, the Son of Man, came not to be served, but to serve, even humbling “Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”

Jesus said to his disciples in Luke 22:27, “I am among you as the One who serves.” And later on in verse 42, Jesus, cried out to God the Father in the Garden of Gethsemane just before the soldiers came to take Him away to be falsely tried and then crucified on a cross. He said, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not My will, but Yours, be done.”
