HOW TO INCORPORATE BRUSHED GOLD ACCENTS INTO YOUR DESIGN

The new golden hues of brushed gold, burnished brass, and brushed bronze are everywhere in design today. These are not the bright brass fixtures we grew up with, but a fresh and modern way to warm up your interior design. Adding intentional touches of brushed gold can add a tremendous wow factor to your space and truly elevate the design. But what are the best ways to incorporate it?

Lighting
Lighting is the jewelry of the room, and it’s the perfect place to bring in golden tones. For a farmhouse or modern scheme, look for lights with both black and gold metals. Mid Century homes can go full gold in a fun starburst shape, and for a traditional style, choose a simple shape chandelier in a soft gold for a touch of glam. Brushed gold kitchen pendants with a navy island is a show-stopping way to incorporate this look yet still remains classic for years to come.

Countertops
The new quartz countertop options revealed during the 2020 International Builders Show were full of subtle, and not so subtle, accents of warm gold. Whether you prefer a dark top or a white, there are many ways to incorporate gold in your tops. Silestone’s Et D’or quartz is a white marble look with warm veins throughout. Cambria’s Clovelly has copper veining, while Dekton Laurent has a black background with gold. These gorgeous slabs work well with cabinets in warm stains and soft whites as well as rich tones like black, navy, hunter green, and deep gray.

Cabinet Hardware
For a more subtle way to add gold to your design, choose a burnished finish for your cabinet hardware. Golds mix well with stainless steel and black fixtures, and they pop off of painted cabinets particularly well. Farmhouse kitchens and baths are complemented by cup pulls or simple handles in both brushed and antique gold hues. For a glam or traditional look, choose hardware with lots of detailing, and select minimalist pulls for a modern style.

Plumbing Fixtures
A final way to add a warm glow to your design is through brushed gold faucets. The Moen Weymouth faucet in brushed gold is a gorgeous centerpiece to any farmhouse kitchen and comes in several designs to fit your needs. Pot fillers are also offered in the gold finish for both traditional and modern styles and are not only functional but beautiful fixtures to add a focal point to your cooktop area. In the bath, the Align collection provides clean lines for a modern twist. These brushed gold hues appear timeless paired with marble look tiles or white subway.

No matter your design scheme, there are brushed gold fixtures and products that will fit your look. Mixing the metals with stainless steel and black accents in your appliances and lighting fixtures adds dimension to the space. Whether you add just a touch or several items of gold, this look provides timeless warmth and depth to your room.
