More is More

Though preferences in design are subjective, trends are not, and the trends of interior design in 2024 will be much different than in previous years. Previously, almost every on-trend space except your grandma’s sitting room was minimal. Minimal in color and maximal in neutral tones. This year is the reverse. It will trend towards patterned couches, unique art pieces, varied tile configurations, and a subtle flare for vogue taste. We can thank grandmas and house magazine features on YouTube for this lean toward eclectic pieces and bold patterns.

The new maximalism stands in the visual marketplace, but the other trend that everyone will be talking about is sustainability. Sustainable designers will hone in on pieces that have recycled materials or are energy efficient. Sustainable pieces could be a restored beam, dimmer lights, energy-efficient induction stovetops, and the list goes on. This year designers are predicting both bold flare for color and texture and a strong emphasis on energy efficiency to be dominant in both studio spaces and homes.
